Chopin Warsaw
Paris Jazz Quintet |
CHOPIN/WARSAW PARIS
JAZZ QUINTET PROJECTwith Symphony Orchestra
Jazz renditions of Fryderyk Chopin music
have long tradition in Poland.
In 70’s Novi Singers were singing Chopin, and pianist Mieczysław Kosz
played fragments of several pieces. But real 'boom' for Chopin a’la
jazz started in nineties. First to do the renditions of Chopin music
was Andrzej Jagodziński and his Trio. Later on there were pianists to
attempt play Chopin with jazz improvisation: Adam Makowicz, Krzysztof
Herdzin, Włodzimierz Nahorny, Leszek Możdżer. All these recordings
were solo piano or small jazz combo with exemption of Nahorny sextet.
The newest project of jazz musicians from Warsaw is to transfer Chopin
music for jazz quartet, vocalist and symphony orchestra. This attempt
is unique by precise way of treating the Chopin music and also by the
amount of musicians involved.
In this project are involved the top polish jazz musicians and French
vocalist / saxophonist Marc Thomas and symphony orchestra. This French
artist reflects the polish and French parts in live of Fryderyk
Chopin.
The goal of this project is to promote the greatest polish composer in
a different modern and unconventional way.
